All kinds of petrochemical products
A variety of petrochemical products are produced from petroleum derivatives, such as plastics, rubber, paints and detergents. In general, it can be said that in petrochemicals, crude oil and gas are transformed into thousands of everyday products. In this article, we want to talk about the types of petrochemical products. If you also want to get to know these products, stay with us.
Petrochemical products are divided into three categories: basic products, intermediate products and final products
All kinds of petrochemical products
In general, the exported petrochemical products are divided into 3 categories:
Basic products: ethylene, propylene, sulfur, gasoline, ammonia, etc., which are the basic materials for the production of petrochemical products.
Intermediate products: PVC, ethylene glycol, melamine, etc., which convert basic materials into feed to produce final products.
Final products: synthetic fibers, rubber, plastic items, chemical fertilizers, medical devices, etc.
Naphtha is one of the most important petrochemical raw materials because it is used in plastic production. There are 9 important and practical products in the petrochemical industry, which are:
- BTX (benzene, toluene, xylene).
- Butadiene: in the manufacture of synthetic rubber.
- Toluene: for the production of inks and sports equipment.
- Butane: hydrocarbon gases for fuel production.
- Methanol: in thermal insulation and building construction.
- Ethylene: for the production of plastics, detergents, synthetic lubricants and styrenes.
- Benzene: for the production of medicines, furniture, electronic devices and food packaging.
- Methane: A greenhouse gas used as fuel (often rocket fuel).
- Propylene: a colorless and odorless gas for fuel and the production of polypropylene (for the production of various products from carpets to structural floors).
Application of petrochemical products
Basic chemicals and plastics are used to produce a variety of consumer products. In fact, it can be said that most of the things we use every day and see around the city are made of basic chemicals and plastics; Such as household appliances and electronic equipment, the clothes we wear, building materials for building houses and offices, many products used in transportation, food and beverage packaging, etc. Petrochemical industry produces most of these chemicals and plastics. These days, the demand for basic chemical products and plastics is very high, because a large part of the goods needed by people in the society are produced through these materials.
Having said that, the use of petrochemical products in various industries and sectors is very large, which can be mentioned as follows:
Medical industry
In the medical industry, a lot of petrochemical products are used, because these materials are used to produce resins, films and plastics. Some examples of the use of petrochemical products in the medical industry:
Petrochemical resins for refining and making medicines
Phenol and cumene to create penicillin and aspirin
Plastics and resins made to produce devices such as artificial limbs and skin
Plastics for the production of a wide range of medical equipment such as bottles, disposable syringes and…
Food products
In food products, petrochemical products are used to produce preservatives. These preservatives maintain the freshness of the food in the packaging. Petrochemical products are also used in the production of most chocolates and candies. Edible colors produced by the petrochemical industry are used in many food products such as chips, canned foods, packaged foods, etc.
Agriculture industry
Petrochemical products are used to produce plastic sheets, pesticides and fertilizers. Plastic is a vital and essential material for the production of string, silage and irrigation pipes. In this way, the petrochemical industry is also widely used in the agricultural industry.
Household products
Petrochemical products are used to produce plastic, synthetic rubber, film and fibers. Since these materials are widely used in many household products, the petrochemical industry also plays an important role in household products. Among the household products, we can mention clothes, perfumes, detergents, carpets, plastic containers, electrical appliances, etc.
